Science (gods)

In Japanese folklore, animals play an important role in the origin of earthquakes. According to a popular story, the cause of earthquakes is the giant catfish Manama. Hiding somewhere beneath the Japanese mainland, sometimes he wiggles his tail, causing an earthquake in the human world. People thought that it was the weird things that cat fish do before an earth quake starts.

P.E Gymnastics

Today in gymnastics I was practising the sequence that I am going to do in the future. I had a lot of muck ups during the time i was on the tramp because I wasn't landing my somersaults and I wasn't doing my handstand back rolls, but at times I landed my somersaults and almost did a forward roll on the parallel bar so i was proud of that.

Gymnastics

Today in P.E we did Gymnastics, today I went on the trampoline doing a bunch of sequence, although it was tough i managed to get through it, it wasn't perfect but i was proud of what I was able to accomplish in that short while in P.E. The sequence I did consisted in a bunch of moves, those moves was Tuck jump, 180 spin, straddle jump, bike jump, stomach jump, air role, stomach jump and a back jump turn and another back jump, we had to do this in one go.

Science

This week in Science we learned more about the layers and volcanos on the earth. There are four layers in the earth's crust, the thinnest and coldest layer of them is the crust. The crust holds the oceans and forms the continents below us, the second and most thickest layer is the mantle, the mantle is a thick layer made up of molten rock, the third layer in the outer core it is the second hottest and the inner core and is the hottest part of the earth.

Volcano disaster

Mt. Tambura is the deadliest eruption in recent human history, claiming the lives of up to 120,000 people. On 10 April 1815, Tambura erupted sending volcanic ash 40km into the sky. It was the most powerful eruption in 500 years. Upon entering the ocean, the force of the pyroclastic flow caused the creation of a series of towering tsunamis. Thanks to the enormous amount of SO2 emitted, the world experienced a severe temperature drop that led to global crop failures.

Wind racers

Today in science we are making wind racers for the next four periods. So I will be updating this blog as we go through this.

Method:To make adjustments to the cart so it can blow further when we use the wind or the leaf blower, for this to work we need to make a big one and make sure the wind blows it perfectly.

Design: We are going to make a wide triangular sail for our wind racer, We will use newspaper to make a triangular sail, we will also use sticks, strings/rubber bands for support.

Equipment:

  • New paper
  • Sticks
  • Tape
  • Hot glue
  • Pieces of wood
  • Pole
  • Rubber bands or strings

Today in science i started making our sail. Stitched it with string and and now it starting to come together. I've also set up my stand for where the sail is gong to stay. I will be reinforcing it with sticks and cardboard next time i do this.

last week on Friday we had a test race to see what we could improve on our wind racers. That was really good for us and gave us some things to work on our wind racers.

Art

Painting Techniques: In art this term we have been learning how do paint techniques. The techniques we used were Gesso, texture, blending, and layers. Gesso's are a liquids that you paint and its a base so that the paint doesn't get through. Texture is the type of painting that you create. blending and layers is just combining a bunch of different colours together. These re pretty much all the painting styles that we used.

Here are some of the art that i have created using the techniques.

Food has significantly in the last 100 year in New Zealand, such as how it was made and how it was produced. People hunted for their foods but now they, but now they get foods from the supermarket. foods will be packed and made for you with machines. machine and AI will take over some of the food industries meaning food gathering, food preparing and food cooking will be made by machines.

Science (measuring speed)

In our experiment yesterday we were measuring speed of the vehicles with timers. we did that by timing the

vehicles speed and then dividing it by 50 and then time-sing that number by 3.6, the results were the km per

hour the vehicles went. The 50 in the calculation was the distance the vehicle covered. 3.6 was just the

converting to meters per second to km per hour. None the vehicles did not reach over 60 km per hour. The

vehicles did not speed because because of the traffic lights. I

really don't know if these calculations are accurate and i would rather use a more accurate tool for this job,

but overall it was a good experiment.

Science (Circuits)

There haven't been many things that we have done on this topic in science, but so far it was enjoyable. We've learned about electricity, circuits, voltage, and magnetism. we have not done many experiments on how to make a circuit, but I'm pretty sure we will be doing that soon.

here is the stuff that I have learnt during this topic so far.

Cooper Coin (Science)

Today we did an experiment on a copper coin. we tried to turn in from copper to silver than to gold. at the start of the experiment we got our on individual coins then we cleaned them if they were dirty in salt and vinegar water, after that we put 50mL of 2molL Na HO into a beaker, we proceeded to set up the bunsen burner, we put the beaker with the chemical on top of the fire and waited for a light boil. we added Zinc power into our chemical and stirred the mixture, then we put it back on the heat and put the coin in with it after a while, it turned into a silver coin then we gave it a rinse and put it on the fire then soon it turned into a gold coin.

Sience (Acid Rain)

What is acid rain?
Acid rain is chemical weather, buildings, and statues made up of rocks that can get damaged during the acid rain. The acid rain is caused when chemicals in factories, cars, or any other type of technology that uses fossil fuel, coal, oil, and natural gases burned, these gases go up into the atmosphere where the clouds are and contaminates the clouds making the clouds turn acidic.

Method:
  1. set up Petriadd
  2. add few drops of water to these
  3. add spatula of sodium sulfate to weigh boat
  4. take starting photo
  5. add 5 drops of sulfuric acid and quickly put a lid on
  6. watch and take a photo
Observation
I saw the different types of things that we put in, the blue litmus turned red as you can see on the picture, the two drops of chemical turned a different color as you can see, the calcium carbonate should have started to get eaten away but I guess it needs more time and the leaf should have started turning brown

Social studies

These past few weeks of social studies we have been learning about migration and the migration topic my class has been working on is refugees and how different refugees around the world migrate. They migrate because of their corrupt government and wars in their countries, people in those countries cannot live in those harsh environments. What I found interesting was how they migrated across the seas just for a better life for themselves, but what they don't know is they would arrive at their destination only to be disappointed because those countries don't let people in.

Maths

this week we continued on our work on GeoGebra, I liked making our own shapes and angles and overall I liked working on it.

Science

In science, we have been learning about acids and bases, this topic has been kind of difficult, but I got through it just fine. We have used this thing called the universal indicator. so basically, I showed us weather the chemicals that we used were either acids or bases. Then we learned about the Ph scale, it was basically a range of how acidic or basic the chemicals were, the Ph scale was numbered from 1 to 14. acids are obviously acidic the most acidic acids are red and they are lower than 7 in the Ph scale and the base is the chemicals that are higher than 7, 14 are the most alkali.

this is what we did in science today.
we use chemicals such as the universal indicator to find out if the other chemicals.

Music

The Piano is the instrument that I am playing because I haven't done a solo performance with it. I haven't really chosen anything really. I am performing to the class because I feel confident in myself

Syrian Refugees (Social studies)

The past few weeks we have been learning about migration and this work that I have done is a topic about migration, we had to pick a country that had refugees and we had to answer kind of easy, but I liked doing them at the same time I hope you learned something from my work.

this is what we did in social studies today and I just finished it.

Science

I have learnt many things during this lesson of bones there are different types of bone, but one of the interesting one that caught my eye was the the femur. the femur is the biggest bone in your body, the femur is your thigh bone and it is also one of the strongest bones in your body.

Another bone that interested me was the tibia and the fibula the tibia and the fibula are the two bones in your shin. the tibia is thicker than the fibula and it is parallel to the fibula, it has a role to play for supporting the ankle. the fibula is the thinner bone that is parallel to the tibia and it does pretty much the same as the tibia it helps to support the ankle.

The has a significant role to play in your body, it is one of your vital organs and you wont be able to live without it. The heart pumps blood to your whole body and lungs, it also pumps energy and oxygen through out your body and takes out the carbon dioxide. The heart is a muscle and it was one of the strongest one in your body, the left side of your heart is the stronger side of the heart because it needs to pump the blood throughout your whole body and the right side pumps to the lungs so it wont been to be as strong.

The biceps and triceps. they are two muscles that work together in order for your arms to move, when you stretch out your arms the triceps tense up because it need to support the fore arm bone to go down and the same thing happens when you curl up your arm inwards, the muscles will help the fore arm to go up and down. when the arm goes out the triceps contact and when the arm curls up the biceps contract.

Human rights

This is what we did in our social studies class. We had to make a Human Rights poster and this is what the end result of my work. I learned what the Human rights are. What I thought was interesting was the human rights were made because of the holocaust in the World Wars. my work link to all 30 human rights and the pictures represent human rights.
